Artesian wells are dug in low places so that the water table is higher than the well head. Thus, the water “flows” without being pumped. This well probably was dug in the 1920s. The cement base was added in the 1940s. There are perhaps six flowing wells here in the northwest part of the county. People visit regularly from as far away as sixty miles, bringing their bottles to fill up for use at home.
